MAPS.ME is an app which can be downloaded on both Google Play and the App Store for free. Prior to traveling to Europe, I tested this app and let’s be honest, I friggen love it!
THE BEST MAP APP EVER!
- Maps can be downloaded with WiFi to be used as “offline maps”
- Absolutely no internet connection is required when using it. My data was off, WiFi was off and to be even more safe, the airplane mode was turned on.
- A very smooth interface with no lags
- A very detailed map. When you zoom in, you can see where you can eat, sleep and even shop!
- The bookmark feature is really useful
- Even with no data or WiFi, the GPS is able to locate where you are and pinpoint it on the map. When you start walking, the arrow moves in the direction of where you are going. This feature is very useful when you prefer to walk back to the hotel rather than taking the public transit.
