The problem with my trip to Hong Kong this time was everyday the forecast will say it is raining and 100% humidity. Being an adventurous person, it was difficult to plan which day was best to go hiking or explore an island. On days that it was actually raining, I found my day being simply…boring. Yeah, there are lots of malls and plazas to walk around, but shopping wasn’t my goal. However, with the forecast scheduled to rain everyday, I took the chance and made a trip to Lantau Island. Best decision ever!!!
The drive up to the Big Buddha was pretty cool. The clouds were low and going through them is always an exciting feeling. The atmosphere and mood was completely different from the last time I went. Last time was a perfect day, blue sky, fluffy clouds, you know what I mean.
This was where I got off the bus. And for you, it will be the same too! The visibility was so low, it was pretty cool. Everything seemed to be hidden behind the fog. The shops were hard to see from far. After spending so much money eating their delicious skewers, we walked to the bottom of the Big Buddha.
The Big Buddha disappeared. It was completely covered up by the fog. I definitely wouldn’t have known that there was a Buddha at the top if it wasn’t my second time coming. However, I like surprises!
I made it to the top in a split second and here it is! Though I still wasn’t able to see the face! It doesn’t get any better though.
I created my own tour and went around the Buddha. It felt as if I was in the clouds. My hair was wet even though it wasn’t raining, everything felt extremely sticky and maybe stinky too. But luckily for you guys, you can’t smell it. Phew.
