MY STORY

Well, hello there. I guess you want to know a little more about me. If not, you still have some time to turn around!

Oh, hi! I’m glad you are still here. My name is Fionn (pronounced as Fe-on). It seems to be a difficult name for strangers to pronounce, but then again I’m used to it. Some people like to call me Fin. Sometimes I may or may not go by the name of Fin though, so it is better for you to call me Fe-on.

Ever since I was young, I knew that school wasn’t something that I was good at. Think about the board game “Mouse Trap”. You try to catch the mouse, but still never succeed. Although I can’t say for sure that I have never caught a mouse in the board game.

That was when I discovered my passion for sports, the outdoors, and photography. Doing any of these things gives me the feeling of being “good enough”.

Therefore, I spent most of my elementary and high school years devoting my time to sports. I started photography at the age of 13.

When I first picked up a digital camera, I started taking pictures of everything from candy to landscapes. After a few years, I noticed that traveling was what I loved the most. Once I got my first DSLR camera, I understood the power of the world that I had just entered. My life was never going to be the same. I had the opportunity to capture the voyage that I was on, including the feelings, excitement and disappointment that comes and goes.

As a travel photographer, I love being able to see the world. I love the feeling of staying up all night just to make sure that I have everything in my camera bag. I love running through terminals just to make sure that I won’t miss my flight. I love the feeling of my ears being plugged when the plane ascends, or descends. I love when the air pressure or elevation changes drastically. I love the smell of a new place and the excitement of what it might bring. I love everything about the unpredictable.

For years, photography and traveling is what I dream and think about. I love to take pictures just as much as viewing them. I enjoy photography because of the memories that go with all my adventures. Photography is a form of art through which I can convey my true self, my passion, my perceptions and my dreams. Through photography I can use my visualization skills in order to recreate the world I want – a world filled with dreams, happiness, love, peace, hope and unity.

Photography and traveling allows me to be stress-free in my own little world. My most passionate works are landscapes. My job is not only to witness, but also to capture and appreciate all the beautiful scenes of nature that I am surrounded by. By capturing these scenes, it makes me reminisce about my own experiences. I cherish every minute in this world because the shadow and light of time will never come exactly as it did today. Photography is a passage backwards in time and has given me the opportunity to travel and meet people from all over the world.

Until this day, I have dedicated my life to documenting places that I enjoy. Whether it will be hiking to the summit of a mountain, swimming with sharks, zip lining in Hawaii, finishing Tough Mudder, or jumping down from a waterfall in Hawaii (sorry mom), I will always be there with my camera(s) in my hands, a smile on my face and butterflies in my stomach.
